Canada prides itself on being a multicultural country based on the value of every individual. This has attracted many people of different faiths to make Canada their own. From a secular perspective, the church in Canada is now one religious group among many. Do we really understand these other religious beliefs? At KMB we rightfully focus on studying and knowing the Scripture. Yet, as a missionary community—for according to Scripture this is what we are (Matthew 28:19–20)—do we really know how to share our faith with those who worship a different god?

Building personal relationships with people is the best way to get to know people; but studying what they believe is another way to seek understanding and perceive with more clarity how our Scriptures challenge and invite. Starting January 10, we are offering our first course on world religions with a focus on understanding each religion on its own terms first and then seeking to understand how each one relates to the testimony of our Scriptures. We cannot study all the world religions in a seven-week series. So this year, we will begin by studying the basic beliefs of Hinduism and Buddhism.
