Our Christian Education Hour runs from 9:15—10:15am before our congregation joins for the Worship Service at 10:30am.Our first cycle begins on September 7th, 2008. The Gospel of Matthew: New Wine in New Skins Instructor: Erwin Penner This course will provide an overview of Matthew and a study of selected passages. We will explore how Matthew shows Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament redemptive story and how Jesus introduces new elements into the way of salvation for all people. There will also be a special focus on the application to our lives of what we learn. God, the Church, and the Age of Persuasion: How media choices are changing our church, and the way our culture views Christ. Instructor: Mike Tennant This course will explore how we navigate faith and evangelism in the multimedia age. With the advent of television, internet, and other forms of rapidly changing media, how do we translate faith while remaining authentic to God’s message through Christ? How do we compare with Jesus? What forms of “media” did he use? After 12 Class—The End of Wisdom: Risking the Perspective of Ecclesiastes Instructors: Darryl Weber, Pete Hamm If you have really delved into the thought-world of the “Teacher” in the book of Ecclesiastes you will conclude that it is definitely a risk. Your view of the world will change dramatically. This book is as timely as ever. This course will examine the content of Ecclesiastes and seek to question how it might shape our lives today. Joint Class, September 21st Guest Speaker: Etti Shoshani Etti is a second-generation Israeli Christian Bible teacher who is visiting Canada and has agreed to speak to us about faith and scripture in a Israeli context. A bio will be printed in the Fall LOOP newsletter for more details! |
